About the project

ENGAGED PROJECT is a KA2 ADULT EDUCATION ERASMUS+ PROJECT which aims to promote Active and Healthy Ageing, by offering to seniors accessible lifelong learning opportunities and encouraging them to become civically engaged citizens through the establishment of the EngAGED COMMUNITY LEARNING CENTRES which will be built on interaction, and support between generations.

Purpose

Why the project exists

The project aims to:

  • Enhance adult educators' skills by equipping them with innovative materials and tools for setting up an Active Ageing programme.
  • Enable social and civic engagement of seniors in today's digital era.
  • Equip older adults with life skills that will help them to realize their full potential and to age actively.
  • Contribute to the promotion of the sense of belonging to Europe, and of the European active citizenship.
  • Help YP to recognize the importance of civic engagement, and intergenerational solidarity.
  • Promote volunteerism, which has been linked to improved quality of life, stronger social networks, increased levels of physical activity and lower mortality rates.
  • Mitigate the generation gap through the organization of an INTERGENERATIONAL MENTORING PROGRAMME that will strengthen community ties.
  • Encourage the cooperation of organizations active in education, healthcare, with local authorities, civil society actors, etc. for fighting social isolation of elderly.
  • Facilitate sharing skills, competences and know-how between generations.
  • Support digital transformation in adult education by developing a Software Application available on handheld devices for bridging the generation gap and promoting civic engagement.
  • Curb the challenges erupted by Covid-19 especially in regards to social isolation and rise of anxiety and exclusion of seniors.

Digital transformation

Partners will develop a Software Application available on mobile devices which will facilitate the formation of seniors-youth mentoring relationships and of an EDUCATIONAL KIT with in text and audiovisual form, including animated videos, webinars, e-books, PPTs and quizzes, for equipping older adults with necessary LIFE SKILLS.

Civic engagement and participation

EngAGED aims to promote social and civic engagement through the organization of an INTERGENERATIONAL MENTORING PROGRAMME between seniors and Young People (YP). By using Mentoring as a Tool for Civic Engagement, seniors will actively participate in their communities and fight social isolation, positively impacting their quality of lives.

Creating and promoting learning opportunities among all citizens and generations

Organization of an INTERGENERATIONAL MENTORING PROGRAMME for increasing cooperation and interaction between Seniors and YP as Mentors and Mentees, and fostering the sharing of skills, knowledge and experience. Partners will also organize volunteering activities for the benefit of the community, where seniors and YP will cooperate and socially contributed.
